Ross Bleckner | Artist

June 25, 2020 in Season 1

Ross Bleckner’s work, collected in all the major collections of the world, has combined gorgeous art with concrete political commitment. In the 1980s he was one of the first artists to tackle and address the AIDS crisis head-on with paintings like 'Small Count' (1980), '8,122+ As of January 1986', and 'Throbbing Heart' (1994), all mesmerizing, haunting canvases about cells and other viral matters that charter a path of activism which continues to this day.
